SALT LAKE CITY (
ABC4) — Happy Wednesday, Utah! We’re looking at plenty of sunshine, breezy winds, and hot temperatures.
Highs will warm into the 100s for parts of the Wasatch Front and another day of highs climbing between 105°+ for southwest Utah. An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect this afternoon for areas near Lake Powell. Today will likely be the hottest of the week as we start to see some changes arriving for late this week.
A Fire Weather Warning is in effect for the Bear River Range and Wasatch Back for our Wednesday afternoon, with a Fire Weather Watch for most of north, east, central, and southern Utah Thursday afternoon for dry lightning potential.
The positioning of the high moving to our east will allow for an uptick in monsoon moisture with a potential of isolated storms starting Wednesday night. The chances for isolated showers and storms will increase each afternoon Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Right now, Thursday and Friday will likely hold the best chances for a seeing pockets of heavier rainfall. We do have marginal risk for isolated flash flooding from our southern Utah recreating spots.
Temperatures may begin to cool slightly back into the mid 90s across northern Utah, and near 100 for SW Utah through the upcoming weekend.
We’ll keep you updated on the latest developments in our 4Warn forecast both on-air and online, we are Good4Utah!
