First held in 1954, the jamboree has become a local tradition, raising funds to support parish high schools, football programs, and scholarships. Proceeds also benefit vision care initiatives, including screenings for children, eyeglass assistance, and programs through the Louisiana Lions Eye Foundation and Louisiana Children’s Camp.
Leading up to the event, the Lions Club honors football coaches at a fish fry, where an assistant coach is recognized for their contributions. A Jamboree Queens Luncheon is also held on the Thursday before the games.
