The Breckenridge Police Department states officers were initially called to a property on the 1200 block of W. Sixth Street August 7 after receiving a report of a dead animal, and they found, “deceased and decaying wildlife and fowl”, as well as numerous malnourished dogs in kennels or on chains outside.
Tuesday, animal control returned to the property to execute a seizure warrant that allowed them to rescue 17 dogs.
These dogs are now being housed at the animal center while the investigation is ongoing.
It’s unknown if any criminal charges will be issued at this time.
