The Harris County Criminal Division says on Tuesday, members of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Waverly Hall Police Department and the Columbus Police Department Fugitive Squad, took Kiara Mwale-Mitchell into custody.
”This is a prime example of great police work and how multi-jurisdictional cooperation can close the gap on criminal activity across county lines,” said Sheriff Mike Jolley.
According to investigators, between July 12 and Aug. 7, deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office responded to several reports of entering autos in Ellerslie and Waverly Hall. An investigation revealed Mwale-Mitchell as the suspect, which led to warrants being issued for her arrest.
She currently faces four-counts of entering auto, three-counts of transaction card theft and one-count of identity fraud.
Harris County authorities say additional charges are pending through the Waverly Hall Police Department, and the case remains under investigation.
Mwale-Mitchell is currently being held at the Harris County Jail without bond until her first court appearance.
