According to Chicago police, 28-year-old Ashley Hamilton, a Far South Side resident, has been charged with one felony count of attempted first-degree murder.
Officers say the charge stems from an incident that allegedly unfolded in the 400 block of West 112th Street in Roseland on Saturday, April 26, when Hamilton was allegedly a passenger in a vehicle that was used to intentionally strike an 18-year-old girl who was running along South Stewart Avenue in the area.
The victim was later hospitalized in critical condition.
Members of the Chicago Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force eventually caught up with Hamilton and took her into custody on Monday.
Hamilton appeared in court for a detention hearing on Tuesday.
It remains unclear what led up to the incident and authorities have not provided updates on the victim’s recovery.
