Victim pulled from Lake Michigan on North Side dies

CHICAGO — Authorities say a death investigation is underway on Wednesday morning after a person was pulled from Lake Michigan near a park on the city’s North Side overnight.

According to Chicago police, just after 1 a.m., members of the CPD and CFD marine units were called to the 3900 block of North Recreation Drive following a report of an unresponsive male victim in the water area near Sydney Marovitz Golf Course.

Once on the scene, CFD Marine Unit crews pulled the victim, whose age is unknown, from the water. At the time he was rescued, officials said he was still unresponsive.

The victim was later taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Currently, it is unclear how the victim ended up in the water and authorities have not yet identified him.

Authorities say the incident has been classified as a death investigation.
