SALT LAKE CITY (
ABC4) — Happy Tuesday, Utah! It’s going to be a sunny and hot day across the Beehive State. Temperatures will warm to the mid-90s along the Wasatch Front. Highs will climb to 105+ for southwest Utah.
High pressure will dominate through the midweek, allowing for temps to approach the triple-digits by Wednesday. The positioning of the high could pull east and allow for an uptick in monsoon moisture with a potential of a storm or two by late this week. Right now, looks like Thursday and Friday will hold the best chances for seeing a few hit or miss showers.
Currently, there is very dry air at the surface, so these storms could just deliver gusty outflow winds and lightning, which would raise fire concerns for parts of the state. It’s been more than 35 days in Salt Lake City without measurable moisture and more than 19 days in St. George. This dry streak leads to worsening drought conditions, so a little wet weather is welcome at this point. We will see!
Increasing clouds will allow temperatures to cool slightly back into the mid-90s across northern Utah, and near 100 for southwest Utah through the upcoming weekend.
