(WHTM) – Pennsylvania State Senators have introduced a new plan to regulate games of skill.
According to a memo released by State Senators Gene Yaw (R) and Anthony Williams (D), the legislation would establish a $500 monthly fee per skill game terminal.
The bill would also limit the number of skill games statewide to 50,000, meaning monthly fees for skill games would generate $300 million annually.
Lawmakers say the bill would also allow local governments to create health and safety rules for businesses where skill games are located.
A copy of the legislation was not immediately available, and it’s unclear if the bill would pass a Democrat-controlled State House.
Skill games have been a contentious topic at the capital in recent years and a sticking point in the overdue state budget.
