New Orleans police officer arrested, charged with prostitution

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A New Orleans police officer was arrested on multiple charges after an investigation.

Louisiana State Police troopers reported that in early 2025, while investigating a separate case, the LSP Bureau of Investigations New Orleans Field Office uncovered evidence of criminal activity by the NOPD.

The investigation revealed that while on duty in the French Quarter, NOPD officer Terrance “TJ” Johnson, 56, allegedly coordinated and paid women in exchange for sexual relations on multiple occasions.

An arrest warrant was issued for Johnson, but on Wednesday, Aug. 13, he turned himself in and was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center. He was charged with:

  • Two counts of prostitution
  • Three counts of malfeasance in office
  • Two counts of injuring public records

NOPD Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick released the following statement.

“Let me be clear—there is no place in this department for conduct that violates the law or the public trust. We will act swiftly and decisively when an officer’s actions compromise the integrity of the badge and the community we serve,” Kirkpatrick said.

Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill issued the following statement.

“This is a matter that remains under investigation. There are many good police officers protecting the public and enforcing the law. We will hold those who breach the public trust accountable,” Murrill said.

An investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information can call LSP detectives at 1-800-434-8007.
