CHELTENHAM TWP., Pa. (WPHL) — Police in Montgomery County are investigating an armored truck robbery at a grocery store, which follows several recent incidents in the region.

According to the Cheltenham Township Police Department, around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, officers were dispatched to the H Mart at 7300 Old York Road in Elkins Park.

Police said two men robbed a Brinks truck and escaped with a large amount of cash.

Both suspects were armed, according to police. One man was armed with an AR-15-style pistol, which investigators said was first incorrectly identified by witnesses as an AK-47. The other man was armed with a handgun. The men also took the armored truck driver’s handgun during the robbery.

According to investigators, the suspects got away in a black Acura TLX on Cheltenham Avenue and drove into Philadelphia. The car was later recovered in West Philadelphia.

Police did not report any injuries during the incident.
