It’s the Shreveport Kickoff Classic between HBCU Grambling State and Langston University who will battle on the gridiron August 30 at Independence Stadium.
During Tuesday’s regular meeting, council members unanimously approved allocating $100,000 that was previously budgeted to sponsor the big event that brings in fans from across the region.
The Shreveport-Bossier African-American Chamber of Commerce said this longtime rivalry will generate economic impact for the city while promoting local attractions.
The weekend will feature family-friendly events, Alumni get-togethers, and the 14th annual Shreveport Blues and Southern South festival bringing live music and entertainment.
Tickets to the game are available on Ticketmaster’s website and Visit Shreveport-Bossier.
