Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the collision; however, the Prince George’s County Police Department (PGPD) said the single-vehicle crash took place in the 11400 block of Laurel Bowie Road.
Around 12:35 a.m. on Aug. 12, officers responded to the area, where the driver, Louis Sanchez Smith, 40, of Laurel, died at the scene.
Police said an initial investigation indicates that Smith was driving south on Laurel Bowie Road when he lost control of the vehicle and hit multiple trees.
Powder Mill Road at Laurel Bowie Road and Town Hall Road at Laurel Bowie Road were shut down in both directions for several hours, but have since reopened.
