
Southaven Police say the bus driver failed to stop at a stop sign and drove into traffic.
During the traffic stop, the officer discovered that the bus driver had an active warrant from the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office.
The bus driver was detained and transferred to the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office.
DeSoto County Schools, in a message sent to parents at Southaven Middle, said law enforcement informed them that the warrant was for a contempt of court charge related to a seat belt violation.
A district safety officer completed the route and safely transported students to school.
