DALLAS, TX (KDAF) – Bringing animals back from extinction seems like something that could only happen in a sci-fi film, but there’s a company working to do just that to help save the lives of countless other species.

Colossal Biosciences is based in Dallas. They made major headlines for bringing back the Dire Wolf. They’re also working on bringing back other extinct species like the Moa, Dodo, Wolly Mammoth, and more. They use gene-editing technology to make this a reality.

But, they do more than just that. They are also heavily involved in conservation. Their goal is to help stop a mass-extinction of many species. Scientists predict that 50% of all species in the world could be extinct by 2050. They’ve also started the Colossal Foundation. It is focused on rapidly using Colossal’s technological advancements for partner-led conservation initiatives, revolutionizing wildlife conservation and ecosystem restoration, and providing financial support and technology products partners globally who are fighting to support the most imperilled species in the world.
