LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A line pipe manufacturing company announced it will be expanding its business at the Port of Little Rock on Monday.

Welspun Tubular LLC announced a $150 million plant expansion, creating an additional 300 jobs. The company came to Little Rock in 2007.

Welspun Managing Director and CEO Vipul Mathur said the investment was to create a state-of-the-art longitudinal pipe mill and a second coating plant.

The additions will make Welspun “one of the most unique facilities of this type in the country,” Mather said, noting that it would be a one-stop for all sizes of pipes.

Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders later pointed out during her remarks that Welspun pipes are very popular in the energy industry, a fact Mather pointed to when he said the plant’s products will be used in the “likely development in the Gulf of America.”

In October 2024, Mather announced Welspun was making a $100 million investment at the port, creating 175 jobs.
