Vehicle fire near Concord shuts down lanes on Kirker Pass Road
(KRON) — A fire broke out Monday afternoon on Kirker Pass Road near Pittsburg and Concord, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). All northbound and southbound lanes were previously blocked on Kirker Pass Road.

As of 5:30 p.m., the lanes on Kirker Pass Road in both directions have reopened.

The incident started as a vehicle fire near Kirker Pass Road and Nortonville Road around 2:45 p.m., authorities said. The fire then spread and developed into a grass fire.

According to the CHP incident log, all northbound and southbound lanes have been stopped as crews divert vehicle traffic.

Contra Costa County firefighters are at the scene responding to the fire. At 2:52 p.m., CHP reported that the fire was “moving fast.”
