In July, detectives began investigating allegations involving a minor that led to an arrest warrant for 58-year-old David Woodson of Opelousas. The warrant, issued by the 27th Judicial District Court, charged Woodson with aggravated crimes against nature, sexual battery of a victim under 13, and molestation of a juvenile.
On Aug. 8, detectives executed the warrant and took Woodson into custody at his home. He was booked into the St. Landry Parish Detention Center.
The investigation remains ongoing.
State police said the Special Victims Unit works to rescue victims of crimes involving child exploitation and human trafficking. Officials urged the public to report suspicious activity through the Louisiana State Police’s online reporting system at la-safe.org by clicking the “Suspicious Activity” link.
