Country artist Megan Moroney is well known for hits like “Am I Okay?,” “Tennessee Orange” and “6 Months Later.” And on Sunday, she stepped out onto the Grandstand stage and performed some of those hits in front of a record-breaking crowd of 15,532 fans.
“Music unites people, and last night at the Illinois State Fair, a record-breaking crowd shared the unforgettable experience of a summer concert under the stars,” Governor JB Pritzker said in a news release. “Kudos to Megan Moroney for an outstanding performance.”
Moroney broke Lil Wayne’s attendance record of 15,427, which was set last year. Before that, Jason Aldean held the attendance record at 15,329 for over a decade.
“Each year, our challenge is to improve upon the year before. Capturing a mix of old and new as well as diversity across genres is at the forefront of our planning,” Jerry Costello II, Director of the Illinois Department of Agriculture, said in a news release. “The Illinois State Fair has a long tradition of featuring artists early in their careers, and we’re proud to have been part of this milestone moment with Megan Moroney.”
