MOUNT STERLING, Ky. (FOX 56) — A man is accused of trying to rape a woman he reportedly attacked and robbed Monday morning in Mount Sterling.

An arrest citation alleged that Dakota Miles, 28, attacked a woman on the Adena Trail walking path in downtown Mount Sterling and dragged her to a nearby lumber building.

She told authorities that, around 7:30 a.m., she was on the walking path when Miles put her in a chokehold from behind before dragging her off. She said he demanded money, and she offered him her cell phone since she didn’t have any money on her.

In the citation, the police noted that Miles reportedly took her cell phone before pulling her clothes off and attempting to rape her.

Around 2:35 p.m., the police said they found Miles and arrested him. The woman later confirmed him as her alleged attacker, the police noted.

Records show he was charged with:

  • Kidnapping—adult
  • First-degree robbery
  • First-degree attempted rape

The police department confirmed that DNA samples were collected from her and Miles, and Adena Trail video footage was collected. Her cell phone was not found.
