In the 100 second video on her Treasurer campaign account, Garrity paints a grim picture of the Keystone State under Shapiro’s leadership.
“Every corner of Pennsylvania, families are hurting,” a narrator opens the video, which Garrity posted to her X account. “Since Josh Shapiro became governor, our economy has tumbled.”
The video goes on to blame the governor for high taxes, utility prices, and grocery costs, as well as criticize his appearances on national television and rumored aspirations for higher office.
Garrity captioned the video, “Help is on the way. Stay tuned.”
One of two state-wide elected Republicans in Pennsylvania, many in the GOP see Garrity as a promising candidate to oust Shapiro. Last November, she broke his record for the most votes received by a state official in the state.
She told abc27 News last week, “I’ve made a decision and there will be an announcement very soon.”
The video is just short of one. It’s paid for by her campaign committee, and Garrity is term-limited for treasurer. However, her website has not been updated since the previous election.
Garrity is not the only Republican teasing a run for governor. State Sen. Doug Mastriano (R-Franklin/Adams counties), who lost to Shapiro in 2022, relaunched his campaign website in July and released his own campaign-style video. He has yet to make a formal announcement on whether he will run.
At least one independent poll has shown Mastriano edging out Garrity in a potential 2026 primary.
