Former New Orleans Chief Administrative Officer Gilbert Montaño will step into the position starting Sept. 2.
Audubon officials said Montaño will take over coordinating internal operations of all Audubon facilities, strategic planning and fostering collaborations that align with Audubon’s mission.
As CAO for The City of New Orleans, Montaño oversaw the city’s daily operations while implementing “innovative solutions to enhance government efficiency,” according to Audubon officials.
“We are thrilled to welcome Gilbert Montaño to our team. His extensive experience in public administration and his dedication to community engagement make him an invaluable asset as we advance our initiatives,” said Michael J. Sawaya, President-Chief Executive Officer and L. Ronald Forman Chair in Conservation Leadership of Audubon Nature Institute.
Montaño announced that he was leaving the city position on July 30 after serving for seven years during the Cantrell administration.
“Gilbert brought not only skill and discipline to the role of Chief Administrative Officer for the City of New Orleans, but a real compassion of innovation and a deep commitment to serving the City of New Orleans. He made sure that we focused on making the true investments that would lead this city and will stay with this city literally for generations to come,” said Mayor LaToya Cantrell.
