According to the California Lottery, Guzman had seen some wins that ranged from $1,000 to $2,500, but little did he know that in just over a year, that could change.
“At first, I couldn’t believe it,” Guzman recalled. “After about five minutes, I got chills all over my body. That’s when I called my family.”
California Lottery stated that with this win, Guzman has been able to pay off his home, providing a new sense of security for his family. He also acknowledged the California Lottery’s broader mission.
“He’s thankful to the Lottery for helping fund schools and providing resources that allow others to have opportunities he didn’t,” the California Lottery said in a statement.
California Lottery said Guzman’s win is a reminder that every ticket that is bought is not just a little play in someone’s life, but also helps the growth and development of public education statewide.
