CHICAGO (WGN) — At least five people were shot during a single incident on the city’s South Side Monday afternoon, according to the Chicago Fire Department.

CFD said the shooting took place near the intersection of East 43rd Street and South Cottage Grove Avenue, and at least five people were shot during the incident.

The Chicago Police Department said they responded to a call that someone was shot in the 700 block of East 43rd Street just before 3:30 p.m.

When police arrived, they said they found five victims who were hit by gunfire.

Firefighters said three adults were taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in serious-to-critical condition, while another adult was taken there in fair condition. A fifth adult was also taken in good condition to Provident Hospital in Grand Boulevard.

Police have no details on an offender and have no one in custody at this time.
