GARFIELD COUNTY, Utah (
ABC4) — Authorities recovered a deceased person from a boat on Lake Powell on Saturday, according to the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office.
At around 10:20 a.m. on Aug. 9, some boaters passed by a boat anchored in a cove near the Bullfrog Marina. According to police, they saw what appeared to be a dead body. No one else was on board.
After the boaters contacted authorities, the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with Glen Canyon Park Rangers, Utah Dept. of Natural Resources, and Kane County Sheriff’s Office, recovered the body.
“This is an open investigation,” a press release from Garfield County Sheriff’s Office states. “However, there is no indication of an accident, foul play, or suicide. The body was transported to the Utah State Medical Examiner Office.”
The deceased individual has been identified as Bruce Wayne Brinkley, 77, of Globe, Ariz.
“The Garfield County Sheriff’s Office offers its condolences to the Brinkley family,” the release states.
