At 9:09 p.m., a 50-year-old man was driving a Peterbilt Semi east on US-56 near the city of Allen, hauling a 16-foot-wide oversized trailer. The driver hit another vehicle, a Chevy Impala that a 21-year-old Gypsum man was driving, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP).
The KHP said that the Chevy Impala hit a third vehicle, a Peterbilt semi truck being driven by a 37-year-old Arizona man.
The 21-year-old was seriously injured and taken to a Topeka hospital for further treatment.
All drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, according to the KHP.
