The Hamilton County Election Board is considering the transition to countywide vote centers. At 1 p.m. on Wednesday, the board will host a public meeting where this measure will be discussed.
The meeting will be conducted in the Hamilton County Commissioner’s Courtroom on the first floor of the Hamilton County Government and Judicial Center, located at 1 N. 8th Street in Noblesville.
This comes as the county currently offers precinct-only voting for residents, giving voters the chance to vote in only one location.
The countywide vote centers approach would give Hamilton County residents the chance to cast their ballot at any of the 52 voting locations across the county. In the state of Indiana, 67 of the state’s 92 counties have adopted the vote center model.
“Hamilton County has always led the way in running secure, efficient elections by doing our research and making good decisions at the right time for the right reasons,” Hamilton County Clerk Kathy Kreag Williams said. “We look forward to hearing what the community has to say about this proposal.”
Officials said that residents will have 30 days after the initial proposal to submit written feedback. After the feedback is received, the board will decide whether to adopt the change, make modifications to the old system or maintain the precinct-only system.
If approved, the new vote center model would be implemented starting with the May 2026 primary election.
