Carmel police officers arrest 5 juveniles during shooting investigation

CARMEL, Ind. — The Carmel Police Department arrested five juveniles during its investigation of a shooting that occurred on Golfview Drive Saturday afternoon.

Previous reporting indicates CPD officers were called to the 1100 block of Golfview Drive around 5:30 p.m. to investigate a shooting. When police arrived at the scene, they located a man with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds.

That man was hospitalized after the shooting.

Soon after the shooting unfolded, CPD indicated that several suspects believed to have been involved in it fled the scene.

In a Facebook post published Sunday night, CPD reported that it arrested five juveniles for their alleged roles in the shooting.

CPD is currently withholding the juveniles’ IDs. The department did however, release the ages of the suspects and the charges they face:

Suspect 1 (17 years old)

• Robbery resulting in serious bodily injury
• Aggravated battery that poses a substantial risk of death
• Attempted murder
• Pointing a firearm at another
• Dangerous possession of a firearm
• Intimidation

Suspect 2 (14 years old)

• Dangerous possession of a firearm

Suspect 3 (17 years old)

• Robbery resulting in serious bodily injury
• Intimidation
• Pointing a firearm at another
• Dangerous possession of a firearm

Suspect 4 (17 years old)

• Robbery resulting in serious bodily injury
• Pointing a firearm at another
• Dangerous possession of a firearm

Suspect 5 (17 years old)

• Robbery resulting in serious bodily injury
• Intimidation
• Pointing a firearm at another
• Dangerous possession of a firearm

In its Facebook post, CPD did not specify whether or not the juveniles have been formally charged as adults. The agency only indicated that the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office will make final charging decisions.
