Baton Rouge man accused of threatening to kill deputy and receptionist

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — An investigation into death threats made against a business and law enforcement officer led to the arrest of a Baton Rouge man on Thursday, Aug. 7.

Kolby Dummons, 34, of Baton Rouge, was charged with threatening a public official and telephone communications; improper language; harassment.

The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office began an investigation into improper telephone communications around 11 a.m. on June 27, 2025.

Their investigation started at the Louisiana Dental Center located in the 14000 block of Market Street. Someone at this location said that Dummons showed his Louisiana identification card upon arrival around 9:30 a.m., ahead of an appointment.

EBRSO said the receptionist mentioned that she recognized Dummons from high school. As the Baton Rouge man was leaving the office, he said, “the business did nothing for him and that he was going to send drones to kill them,” according to the affidavit.

After leaving, Dummons made threats against the office and the receptionist during three different calls. EBRSO said he identified himself during each phone call.

While law enforcement was at the office, he called again, and the conversation was recorded.

EBRSO said he again made “threats to kill the victim and anyone who gets in his way.” The threats included sending “300 drones to kill all of them,” as well as himself and a SWAT team to shoot the receptionist.

The sheriff’s office said that while speaking with Dummons, the Baton Rouge man threatened to kill the deputy if he did not stay out of it.

After his arrest on Market Street in St. George, Dummons was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
