SOUTH OGDEN, Utah (ABC4) — A South Ogden woman was charged on Thursday with sexually abusing her disabled roommate.

Dawn Marie McAteer, 72, is charged with object rape (first-degree felony) and forcible sexual abuse (second-degree felony).

On May 14, 2025, McAteer’s roommate reported to police that she was sexually assaulted by her McAteer. She claimed she was in bed when McAteer committed the assault.

In an interview with police, McAteer reportedly initially denied the allegations, but then admitted to multiple details of the incident.

Through the investigation, police obtained medical documentation that shows McAteer’s roommate as being a vulnerable adult diagnosed with a mental disorder that makes her unable to consent.

Charges are allegations only. All arrested persons are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
