According to police, the victim was sitting in a car in a business parking lot on the 1300 block of West Texas Street when someone approached the car and opened fire. Multiple shots were fired, striking the victim.
“Officers responded to the scene and provided lifesaving measures before the victim was transported to a local hospital,” the Fairfield Police Department said. “Unfortunately, he subsequently succumbed to his injuries.”
The suspect allegedly fled the scene before officers arrived. The case remains under investigation.
“Although the investigation is ongoing, preliminary evidence strongly suggests this was not a random act,” Fairfield PD said. “There is no perceived threat to the public at this time.”
