Colma police officers responded to a theft at a Target on Junipero Serra Boulevard at around 12:21 p.m. on Aug. 2. Police were informed that two women were loading items into personal bags.
Upon arrival, officers contacted the loss prevention officers, who informed Colma police of the suspects’ identities. After police informed the suspects that they were being detained, and ordered them back into the store. One of the suspects complied, and the other walked past officers.
The suspect who did not comply was identified as San Francisco resident Ada Mendozaortiz. According to Colma PD, officers told her she was being detained and ordered her back into the store, and she refused, walking around the officers.
Authorities attempted to detain Mendozaortiz. A struggle ensued after she resisted, per police. Police also said she “bit a Sergeant on his left arm, causing the skin to break.”
Despite Mendozaortiz’s resistance, police were able to arrest her.
Per police investigation, Mendozaortiz had a $2,500 misdemeanor warrant.
Mendozaortiz was arrested and booked into the San Mateo County Jail for obstructing/resisting an officer, causing injury, battery against an officer, conspiracy to commit a crime, shoplifting and her warrant.
