Louisiana will be the first stop of Education Secretary’s tour of the country

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The Secretary of Education Linda McMahon will visit Louisiana Monday, Aug. 11. This will be her first stop on her tour of the nation.

Officials said this will launch McMahon’s “Returning Education to the States,” tour. She will visit all 50 states and highlight local education initiatives, gather feedback from educators and families and spotlight successful state-led strategies.

Officials said beginning the tour with Louisiana reflects the state’s historic gains in education. She will join Louisiana State Superintendent of Education Cade Brumley for a roundtable discussion in Baton Rouge.

“President Trump entrusted me with a vital mission to return education to the states, and part of that is learning best practices from each state,” said McMahon. “I am eager to hear directly from students, educators, and local leaders about the bold ideas that can propel success, while also exploring how we can ensure every family has the freedom to choose the educational path that best fits their child’s needs.”
