The company wrote in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act Notice to the Department of Workforce Development on July 16 that all terminations will occur on Sept. 19.
The list of job positions ranges from a senior operations manager to 145 warehouse associates, none of whom are represented by a union.
The employees affected will have the opportunity to transfer to another Target location.
The closest Target distribution center is located over 2 hours away in West Jefferson, Ohio, approximately 20 minutes from Columbus.
According to the WARN notice, information will be provided to the employees affected on how to explore reemployment assistance through the DWD.
A statement issued by a Target spokesperson said:
As we continue to evolve our supply chain to deliver the ease, speed, and value consumers expect, we are adjusting the types of operations performed at our Indianapolis Distribution Center and redistributing certain capabilities to other nearby facilities. These changes impact a limited number of team members who will have the opportunity to apply for different roles within the facility and at nearby locations.
- This is not a building closure. Target will continue other types of inventory operations in our Indianapolis Distribution Center.
- We will continue hiring for replenishment roles at this Distribution Center.
- Impacted team members will be given the opportunity to apply for new roles at this facility and nearby locations.
