FLEMING COUNTY, Ky. (FOX 56) — Officials with the Fleming County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) made a social media announcement on Saturday to clarify information in response to “a social media post circulating regarding an altercation at Ridgeway Park Apartments.”

FCSO staff wrote on Aug. 9 that a picture of a deputy helping officers with the Flemingsburg Police Department during an investigation had been shared online.

Since the post referenced the sheriff’s office, deputies explained that the Flemingsburg Police Department was the primary investigating agency and that deputies only responded when they were requested by local law enforcement.

“We respect and support the public’s rights to free speech, peaceful protest, and to advocate for better living conditions,” deputies wrote. “We also do not condone violence of any kind, and allegations of assault are taken seriously.”

FCSO members asked any residents with questions about the fight investigation to ask Flemingsburg police.

“Our role in this matter was to provide assistance to their officers, and we will continue to support our law enforcement partners whenever needed,” the sheriff’s office announced.
