The drive included free haircuts, free backpacks filled with school supplies and much more.
It was a day that meant a lot to Washington and it’s something he wants to continue in the future.
“I mean just to put a smile on there face so they can be a part just like the other kids you know. Some people that didn’t have it you know what I mean or struggled you know, just making it easy for the moms and dads and everything like that. It means a lot,” Washington said.
In the past, Washington has hosted youth football camps in the area but this was something he’s always wanted to do.
“I mean it’s kind of something I always wanted to do, I just never really had the time you know being back in camp, but hey I have an injury right now so I got a little bit more time on my hands,” Washington stated.
Washington suffered a torn Achilles in mid-May but is aiming for a return to the field around December.
He was supposed to host the drive with former Parkway and LSU football alum Terrace Marshall Jr., but he couldn’t make it due to preseason football with the Philadelphia Eagles.
