Prestonsburg city leaders announced on Saturday, Aug. 9, that local police got a complaint that 43-year-old Jonathan Howell of Auxier allegedly made threats to kill a USPS employee. Shortly after the complaint, Howell took to social media and allegedly threatened deputies.
Responding to the threats, law enforcement officials got state felony warrants for Howell’s arrest at the request of the United States Postal Inspector, city leaders said.
The FCSO wrote on Facebook that around 6 p.m. on Saturday, deputies went to Auxier and arrested Howell.
He was reportedly charged with two counts of terroristic threatening, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, public intoxication, and menacing. He was lodged in the Floyd County Regional Jail.
Prestonsburg officials said the threat investigation is ongoing.
