The Paducah Police Department wrote on Facebook that three women had been shot on the 900 block. One of the victims was taken to a local hospital and released, but the other two were taken out of the state.
“As of early this morning, the 20-year-old is currently on life-support and the 23-year-old is listed in critical but stable condition,” Paducah police wrote.
Officers said Jystacye Pitts of Union City, Tennessee, was charged with first-degree wanton endangerment after allegedly admitting to opening fire during the Boyd Street shooting.
Pitts had been lodged in the McCracken County Detention Center but has since been released.
Capus Adams, 18, of Murray, was allegedly seen firing a gun at several people. After a short chase, he was arrested, and the gun he had allegedly thrown away was found.
Adams was charged with first-degree wanton endangerment—discharge of firearm, tampering with physical evidence, and third-degree fleeing or evading police. He was lodged in the McCracken County Detention Center on a $2,500 bond.
Paducah officials said an update in the investigation will be announced on Monday, Aug. 11. The investigation is still “very active,” officers said.
