St. Paul Schools, union reach tentative contract deals
The St. Paul Public School District has reached a tentative contract with union educators for the next two years.
St. Paul Public Schools (SPPS) and the St. Paul Federation of Educators (SPFE) reached tentative agreements on the 2025-27 contracts for the district’s licensed staff, educational assistants and school and community service professionals.
The school district added that the agreements were reached ahead of the new school year and without mediation for the first time in nearly 20 years.
“This agreement shows what’s possible when we come to the table with respect, transparency, and a shared commitment to our students,” said SPFE President Leah VanDassor. “Starting the school year with a settled contract allows us to focus on what matters most – our classrooms, our kids, and our community. Now, we’re ready to work together on this fall’s referendum and continue building the public schools Saint Paul deserves.”
“All of us at Saint Paul Public Schools are committed to the important work of collaboration and coming together as one SPPS community,” said SPPS Superintendent Stacie Stanley. “With this historic agreement, I look forward to working hand in hand with our educators as we prepare for the new school year and our upcoming referendum in November.”
More details about the contract will be available after they are approved by both parties at an upcoming meeting.
