CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — One person is dead and another is seriously hurt after a crash on I-277 in Uptown just hours after the first Panthers preseason game finished, according to Medic.

Around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, officers responded to the crash on I-277 near Exit 1E, right outside Bank of America Stadium. Medic said one person was pronounced dead at the scene and another was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

NCDOT says I-277 is closed past Exit 1D (S. Mint Street), and isn’t expected to reopen until after 8:30 a.m. Drivers are advised to follow the direction of on-scene personnel to get around the crash.

Authorities have not said what led to the crash or if anyone will be charged.
