CORNELIUS, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — One of Lake Norman public beaches will be closed this weekend due to bacteria.

Mecklenburg County officials announced Friday that Ramsey Creek Beach will be closed through Sunday, Aug. 10. They said the elevated bacteria levels are likely the result of heavy rains earlier this week.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services will retest the water there on Monday. The rest of Ramsey Creek Park, on Nantz Road in Cornelius, will remain open.

The lake’s other public beaches are at Lake Norman State Park in Troutman and Beatty’s Ford Park in Denver.
