Heavy equipment operator struck on I-30 in Bowie County, dies

BOWIE COUNTY, Texas (KTAL/KMSS) – A skid steer operator was killed in a fatal collision on Interstate 30 on Thursday afternoon.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said the crash happened on August 7, 2025, around 12:50 p.m. on I-30 at the 190-mile marker west of New Boston as Braden Tucker, 21, of Lufkin, attempted to cross the roadway after working on guardrails in the center median.

Tucker was ejected from the Kubota skid steer and brought to a nearby hospital, where he ultimately died from his injuries.

Texas DPS continues to investigate this crash and there are no additional details available at this time.
