On April 20, officers were called to the 14000 block of Centreville for a sex offense report. Parents of a 14-year-old child said they found a man in a car with their child.
The parents confronted the man who ran away before the police could arrive.
FCPD said detectives identified 50-year-old Akbar Yunusi, of Chantilly, as the suspect. It was found out that the child met him through social media.
According to FCPD, Yunusi had come to meet with the child several times to “engage in illicit acts.”
About a day after the incident, Yunusi bought a one-way flight to Istanbul.
On Aug. 3, he was arrested by Customs and Border Protection as he returned to the U.S.
Yunusi was charged with three counts of taking indecent liberties with children, eight counts of use of a communication system to facilitate certain crimes against children, three counts of production of child pornography, sodomy, and aggravated sexual battery.
He is being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center without bond.
Anyone with information about this case is asked to call (703) 246-7800, option 6.
