LEHIGH COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — A head’s up if you’ll be returning from the Poconos this weekend: part of the Pennsylvania Turnpike’s Northeast Extension will be closed this Sunday.

The closure will be southbound between the Lehigh Valley and Quakertown interchanges this Sunday from midnight to 6 a.m.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike says the closure will allow crews to install beams for a bridge replacement project on Tilghman Street.

Northbound traffic will not be impacted, the Turnpike says.

A detour will be in place using U.S. 22 East and PA 309 South to PA 663.

State troopers and turnpike personnel will be positioned at the impacted areas to assist drivers, PennDOT says.
