West Nile virus detected in Vacaville, Suisun City
(KRON) — Multiple mosquitoes have tested positive for carrying West Nile virus in Solano County, the Solano County Mosquito Abatement District announced Friday.

On Aug. 4, West Nile virus was found in mosquitoes near Shiloh Church on Shiloh Road in Suisun City, according to the Solano County Mosquito Abatement District. The test marked the first positive detection in the county in 2025.

On August 7, 2025, West Nile virus was also found in mosquitoes near Allendale Road in Vacaville. The Solano County Mosquito Abatement District has provided maps to highlight  areas of concern where mosquitoes could potentially spread the virus.

“Residents are urged to inspect their properties for standing water and take precautions to avoid mosquito bites, including using EPA-registered repellents containing DEET, Picaridin, Oil of Lemon Eucalyptus, or IR3535,” the Solano County Mosquito Abatement District said. “SCMAD technicians are conducting targeted control efforts in the area and will continue monitoring to reduce mosquito populations and prevent further transmission.”
