The driver, who San Mateo PD identified as Liliana Tafollaromero, allegedly tried to pepper spray a security guard unsuccessfully. According to police, she then began to drive away before returning and attempting to strike a security guard with her vehicle.
Officers arrived and made contact with the suspect, who refused to exit her vehicle. She then reversed and rammed a San Mateo PD patrol vehicle.
No officers were injured and the patrol vehicle sustained only minor damage. Tafollaromero then made another attempt to strike a security guard with her vehicle. Officers spent the next 10 minutes attempting a traffic stop on Tafollaromero as she circled the parking lot.
Finally, a vehicle disabling device was deployed to slow her down. Following additional containment measures, Tafollaromero got out of the vehicle and was detained without further incident, police said.
She was arrested and booked into San Mateo County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon and evading a peace officer.
