The Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) reported in a social media post on Friday, Aug. 8 that one of its troopers caught a sportbike user traveling at 164 mph on the Kansas Turnpike in Shawnee County. The motorcyclist approached the trooper from behind before passing at the unsafe speed.
The KHP trooper caught up with the motorcyclist a short time later off the highway and conducted a traffic stop. The trooper issued a $1,188 ticket to the motorcyclist for the traffic violation.
“Traveling at this speed isn’t just illegal, it’s extremely dangerous. Whether it ends in a ticket or a tragedy, the consequences are real. Speeding doesn’t just endanger you; it endangers everyone else on the road as well. Help us keep you and your loved ones safe by slowing down!”
