MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ind. — A juvenile led police on a car chase that spanned interstates, highways and country roads until a spike strip finally brought the fleeing vehicle to a halt.

Indiana State Police said the pursuit began at approximately 10:45 p.m. on Wednesday on Interstate 74 near mile marker 29. A state trooper had pulled over a 2018 Nissan Rogue driving 90 mph in a 70 mph zone.

The driver of the Rogue ended up speeding off, kicking off the pursuit that spanned across I-74, U.S. 231 and County Road 400 North. Deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department joined in the chase and threw out a spike strip to deflate the Rogue’s tires.

The driver finally came to a stop on 550 North. The juvenile driver was taken into custody. Police did not release the exact age of the driver, only referring to the driver as a juvenile.

State police said a handgun and suspected marijuana were found inside the Nissan during a search. A passenger was also taken into custody and faces preliminary charges of unlawfully carrying a firearm due to having a prior conviction.

The passenger was identified as Caleb Davis, 19, of Peoria, Illinois.
