In accordance with Executive Order #20-30, Gov. Kelly said this applies to all state buildings, grounds and facilities from sunup to sundown on Aug. 11.
“The death of a law enforcement officer is always a tragedy, and Deputy Ming was taken far too soon,” Gov. Kelly said.
“He made the ultimate sacrifice in service to his community, and he will not be forgotten. My sincere condolences go out to Deputy Ming’s loved ones during this difficult time.”
Ming was killed in the line of duty on July 26 after a woman asked officers to accompany her as she moved out of her home near South 30th Street and Shawnee Drive.
When Ming and a KCKPD officer approached the front door, investigators said someone shot at them from inside the house. Ming was shot and taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Shawn Harris, 38, has been charged with one count of capital murder and one count of criminal possession of a weapon by a felon for Ming’s death. He faces the death penalty, if convicted.
Deputy Ming will be honored during services held on Aug. 11. You can find funeral service details here.
