According to an Aug. 7 news release from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), a National Response Team was sent to Annville to investigate the historic ministry building fire.
Federal officials said Shelia Clemons, 57, was arrested and charged with arson of property affecting interstate commerce in the Eastern District of Kentucky.
“Due to the tremendous efforts of our ATF National Response Team members and our state and local partners, the community of Annville can rest well today knowing that an arrest has been made relating to the intentional and senseless burning of their historic building,” John Nokes, special agent in charge of the investigation, said.
Clemons was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center on Thursday. The arson investigation is ongoing.
