UNION COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A Union County family is speaking out after discovering that their daughter was allegedly filmed by a now-convicted American Airlines flight attendant during a flight to Disney World.

In a federal lawsuit filed on Wednesday, the family claims their then-11-year-old daughter was secretly recorded by flight attendant Estes Thompson while using the bathroom during an August 2023 flight from Charlotte to Orlando.

According to the lawsuit, Thompson was working as a crew member on the flight. The family said they had no idea anything had happened until recently, learning that Thompson had been under federal investigation for child exploitation.

Thompson has pleaded guilty to attempted sexual exploitation of children and possession of child pornography. He has since been sentenced to more than 18 years in federal prison.
